Disabled Toilet Keys – A key to give access to disabled toilets is available for purchase from the main council offices or tourist information offices.
Warm Front Scheme - If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £2,700 (or £4,000 if oil central heating is involved) under the Warm Front Scheme. Depending on your requirements, the scheme can provide everything from low energy bulbs to cavity wall insulation or even a complete heating system.
Some of the benefits which qualify for a grant are Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance and pension credit.

Cinema Tickets - If someone is in receipt of Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance, or is registered blind, and enjoys going to the cinema, they can apply for an ID card which entitles them to take a carer in for free. It can be used in most cinemas in the UK.
It costs £5.50 for a 3 years of use.

Blue badge parking scheme - The Blue Badge Disabled parking Scheme allows disabled and blind people to park closer to shops and amenities, allowing the holder to drive or be transported to areas within towns and cities where parking is restricted.

Message in a Bottle scheme - A simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - the Fridge. Whilst it is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can have an accident at home, so this scheme can benefit anyone.
Bottles, which are free of charge, can usually be found in your local Chemist or Doctors Surgeries. Thanks to a number of other organisations, you may also find that you can obtain one through your nearest Neighbourhood Watch group, Age Concern, Council Offices, Housing Associations and many other places including Police stations. If you are unable to find a Bottle, please contact your local Lions Club.
